Blagoevgrad (Bulgarian: Благоевград) is а city located in the southwestern part of Bulgaria, in the valley of the Struma River at the foot of the Rila and Pirin Mountains. The city is the economic and cultural centre of southwestern Bulgaria. Thanks to the many mountain forests around the town and the lack of industrial pollution, the air is clean in Blagoevgrad.
